Graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a college, university, or trade school and who are active in the Van Meter UM church are encouraged to apply for college or vocational scholarships.
Scholarships are available from our church, from the Iowa United Methodist Foundation, and at the national level from GBHEM, the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry.
Our church awards up to five $500 scholarships each year to high-school seniors seeking higher education. Applicants must be both active participants and church members. We consider an active participant as one who regularly attends church services or participates in church group activities.
To apply for a Van Meter UMC scholarship, click here for a printable application or you may contact the church office and we can mail you one. Our Director of Youth Ministries can answer your scholarship questions; email her at childrensministries@vmumc.com. Van Meter UMC applications must be received no later than April 1.
For Iowa United Methodist Foundation scholarships, please visit the Iowa United Methodist Foundation website. There you will find more information as well as application forms. IUMF applications must be postmarked no later than March 1.
For GBHEM scholarships, please visit the GBHAM website.
